Dr. Tara Adirim, Family Medicine

Dr. Tara Adirim completed her medical training and Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto. She practiced in Toronto prior to moving back to Vancouver with her husband in 2014. She joined the Seymour Health Centre in 2015 where she has a busy and fulfilling family practice. Dr. Adirim also works regularly in student health at the University of British Columbia and in sexual health clinics across Vancouver. Happy to be back in Vancouver, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing.

Dr. Katie Beleznay, Dermatology

Dr. Katie Beleznay completed her medical training and dermatology residency at the University of British Columbia and is currently a Clinical Instructor with the UBC Department of Dermatology. Dr. Beleznay is a board certified dermatologist in both Canada and the United States. She completed a one year fellowship in laser and cosmetic dermatology. She has a special interest and focuses her research in the areas of cosmetic medicine, acne & rosacea, psoriasis and photoprotection.

Dr. Jack Boxer, Family Medicine

Dr. Jack Boxer was born and raised in Vancouver. He completed his undergraduate medical training at U.B.C. and extended his training with one year of a Family Practice residency. He has been practicing in the greater Vancouver area for over 30 years, coming to the Seymour Health Centre in 2014, after many years of practice in Delta, B.C. He enjoys playing jazz guitar and spending time with his wife and four children and their families, including his four fantastic grandchildren.

Dr. Matthias Dahlmanns, Family Medicine

Dr. Dahlmanns grew up in Germany where he studied Medicine. After graduating from Bonn University in 1991 he moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where he completed his postgraduate training and began working. He went on to practice Cruise Ship Medicine before joining the Seymour Health Centre as a Family Doctor in May 2011. His hobbies are hiking, cycling, chess and recently, cross country skiing.

Dr. Carly Glasner, Family Medicine and Maternity Care

Dr. Carly Glasner is from Toronto and gradually made her way out west for her medical training. After graduating from medical school at the University of Alberta, she completed her Family Practice residency at the University of Calgary. Following her husband to Vancouver, Dr. Glasner started her practice doing full spectrum family medicine, with a special focus on women’s health and low-risk obstetrics. She also does deliveries out of BC Women’s Hospital with Terra Maternity Group. With a new baby boy in her life, Dr. Glasner enjoys spending time with her family as well as travelling.

Dr. Iman Hemmati, Internal Medicine and Rheumatology

Dr. Iman Hemmati completed his medical training, specialty training in Internal medicine, and sub-specialty training in Rheumatology at the University of British Columbia. He is a member of Division of Rheumatology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and staff rheumatologist at the Vancouver General Hospital, Mary Pack Arthritis Centre, and St. Paul's Hospital. His area of interest and research focus includes connective tissue diseases and specifically systemic sclerosis. The scope of his practice includes general Rheumatology and musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Urve Kuusk, General Surgery

Dr. Urve Kuusk has been practicing general surgery in Vancouver since 1984. Her practice is heavily weighted toward the surgical treatment of breast cancer, and she is considered to be one of the top experts in this field. Besides numerous academic publications, she is a co-author of the widely acclaimed Intelligent Patient's Guide to Breast Cancer. This publication, now in its fourth edition, is distributed across Canada by the Canadian Cancer Agency as a patient reference. She has admitting privileges to a variety of Vancouver hospitals, the main site at this time being Mount St Joseph's.

Dr. Angelo Mazzarella, Family Medicine

Dr. Mazzarella completed his BSc in Microbiology and Medical Degree at UBC. He became a certificant of the Canadian College of Family Physicians after completing his Family Medicine Residency at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. After practicising in Hay River, NWT and Moose Factory, ON, he returned to B.C. and began working at the Seymour Health Centre in Jan, 2003. He has an interest in Geriatrics, Cardiovascular Risk prevention, and Occupational Health. Dr. Mazzarella is a passionate hockey and soccer fan, and loves spending time with his 2 kids!

Dr. Cheryl Mutch, Pediatrician

Dr. Cheryl Mutch is a pediatrician who trained at McGill and at Dalhousie University. She is a clinical instructor at UBC. She has been a general pediatrician and also works at the BCCH neonatal follow-up clinic. She also works on the maternity ward at St Paul's Hospital. She has worked at SunnyHill Health Centre in the Autism clinic as well. Cheryl is the co-author of 2 books with Brenda Bradshaw: Good Food for Families, and Good Food to Go. Cheryl and her husband have 2 daughters.

Dr. Scott Russell, Podiatry

Dr. Russell graduated from Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1979. He completed the Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Medical School Podiatry Residency in 1980. He spent six years on the staff of St. Francis Medical Center Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Princeton University Medical Center in the State of New Jersey. Dr. Russell returned to practice in Vancouver in 1986 and was on staff at Shaughnessy Hospital for five years. He has practiced with the Seymour Health Centre for approximately sixteen years. His practice is General Podiatry and includes Ambulatory Foot Surgery, Diabetic and Geriatric Foot Care, and Orthotic for Biomechanical problems and Sports. Dr. Russell is licensed in Alberta, BC, Vermont, and Washington State.

Dr. Marsha Santerre, Family Medicine

Dr. Marsha Santerre has been with the Seymour Health Centre since 2006. She has a busy and fulfilling full service family practice but also works regularly in Vancouver's downtown eastside practicing inner-city and addiction medicine. In 2010 she began part time travel medicine consultations at the Seymour Health Centre. Originally from Northwestern Ontario, she moved to Vancouver to nurture her passion in outdoor adventure. Her passions include international travel, rock climbing, tennis, backcountry camping, kayaking, hiking, skiing and photography.

Dr. Ashleigh Stelzer-Chilton, Family Medicine

Dr. Stelzer-Chilton joined the Seymour Health Centre in 2008. She was born in Zimbabwe and immigrated to Canada in 1981. Her studies have been in Canada and France. She has worked in Germany, and volunteered extensively in France, South Africa and in the United States. She went into medicine as a result of her work with HIV orphans in Cape Town. She did her medical school at McMaster University and her residency at the University of Toronto - at which time she did rotations in Tanzania and Uganda. She worked in a walk-in-clinic in Toronto for several years before moving to Vancouver in 2008. In 2014 she became a Peer Assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. She and her husband have 2 children. Her main interests include travel,camping and interior design.

Dr. Antoinette van den Brekel, Pediatrician

Dr. van den Brekel graduated from McGill Medical School, interned at St. Paul's Hospital and went on to do pediatric residency at New England Medical Center in Boston. Following this she returned to Vancouver for fellowship training in pediatric hematology oncology. She has been practicing as a general pediatrician in BC since 1998. She is on staff at St Paul's Hospital, caring for newborns. She is also active in undergraduate medical education. She is interested in seeing patients aged 0 to 18 with acute and chronic medical concerns. Aside from her passion for pediatrics, she is a happy wife and mother of three.

Dr. David Young, Family Medicine (retired)

Dr. David Young graduated from the University of Manitoba and practiced in Winnipeg prior to moving to Vancouver. He has been working at Seymour Health Centre since 2008. David is a Fellow of the College of Family Practice Canada. He has also worked in rural British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and the Canadian Arctic, as well as Africa, New Zealand and Australia. He is married with 3 grown children and enjoys cycling to work.

Dr. Joy Wee, Physiatry

Dr. Joy Wee, physiatrist, has a scope of practice that includes neurorehabilitation, physical medicine, electrodiagnosis and performing arts medicine (musicians/dancers). She has previously directed rehabilitation programs at Providence Health Care and has been involved in teaching in the UBC Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Queen’s University where she holds an adjunct Associate Professor faculty position.. Dr. Wee did her Bachelor of Science in Neurophysiology at McGill University, M.D. (1993) at the University of British Columbia, and specialty training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Queen's University. She completed the Physicians' Executive Management Program at Simon Fraser University and Masters of Rehabilitation Sciences at Queen's University. She is a member of the Performing Arts Medicine Association and co-chairs the International Rehabilitation Special Interest Group of the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She is engaged in education and rehabilitation projects in low-resource settings internationally and is a board member of BethanyKids (www.bethanykids.org), serving children with disabilities in Africa. She enjoys creative expression through music, painting, writing and exploring nature.
